President & CEO

Deanna Terzian

Deanna Terzian is the President and Chief Executive Officer of TutorWorks. Since founding the organization in 2001, Deanna has helped TutorWorks deliver direct academic services to more than 30,000 public school students in California and Florida while advancing the development of educational software designed to strengthen language, literacy, and academic growth.

Deanna brings more than 30 years of experience as an educational entrepreneur, project manager, and learning program leader. Her background includes extensive work in motivational eLearning product development, school-based programming, and community-centered education initiatives. She is also the Co-founder of the East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring Program at Stanford University and previously served as Director of School Programs at the Haas Center for Public Service at Stanford University.

Deanna holds a B.A. in Public Policy, with distinction, from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

My passion is to create opportunities for people to experience the wonder and joy of learning and achievement.

Chief Academic Officer

Dr. Nicky Ramos-Beban

Dr. Nicky Ramos-Beban brings deep expertise in curriculum and instruction, teacher education, and organizational leadership to her role as Chief Academic Officer at TutorWorks. Since joining TutorWorks in 2019, she has helped guide the organization's academic approach, instructional quality, and student-centered learning programs.

Dr. Ramos-Beban is a senior lecturer in the Teacher Education Department at San Jose State University and the founder of Small Schools By Design, a small schools advocacy group. She is the coauthor of Be the Change: Reinventing School for Student Success and received the LaBowsky Award from Stanford University for contributions to teacher education.

She earned a Bachelor of English and a Master of Education from Stanford University, a Master of Urban Education and Leadership from San Jose State University, and a Doctorate in Education from Stanford University.

My passion is to create learning communities where students are guaranteed to receive the support they need to achieve and master academic and life skills.

Chief Scientist

Dr. Bruccoleri

Dr. Bruccoleri brings extensive expertise in research, innovation, and advanced technology development to his role as Chief Scientist at TutorWorks. Since joining the organization in August 2022, he has helped advance TutorWorks' research and technology initiatives, including work involving intelligent systems, artificial intelligence, and educational innovation.

He has led advanced research and development projects across areas such as space sensor development, computer vision, and artificial intelligence, managing initiatives from early concept creation through funding and execution.

Dr. Bruccoleri holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Rome, Italy.

My passion lies in creating intelligent systems and pushing the boundaries of innovation and learning.

Chief Financial Officer

Chris Hazelwood, CPA

Chris Hazelwood, CPA, serves as Chief Financial Officer of TutorWorks, supporting the organization's financial strategy, reporting, operational planning, and long-term growth initiatives. He brings experience in financial accounting, tax, management consulting, advisory services, and fractional CFO leadership for growing organizations.

In his role, Chris helps TutorWorks strengthen financial visibility, support strategic decision-making, and align business operations with the organization's mission to serve students, families, schools, and educational partners.
