School Attendance
Encouraging families to understand the importance of consistent attendance and student participation.
Parent Workshop Series
Since 2001, TutorWorks has worked collaboratively with parents, schools, and districts to strengthen student outcomes through practical, engaging family workshops. The Parent Workshop Series helps schools encourage meaningful parent involvement without adding more demands to school staff.
Family engagement
TutorWorks' Parent Workshop Series is based on some of the organization's most effective parent training sessions. The workshops are designed to educate and inspire parents while giving schools a practical way to strengthen family involvement, student participation, and academic success.
The Parent Workshop Series helps address a common challenge schools face: how to harness parent involvement in ways that support student success without placing additional demands on school staff resources.
Workshop outcomes
Encouraging families to understand the importance of consistent attendance and student participation.
Helping parents understand and support student participation in academic support and enrichment programs.
Giving families practical tools to help students set goals, stay motivated, and build confidence.
Helping families understand assessment expectations and ways to support preparation at home.
Providing parents with ideas and strategies to reinforce learning outside the classroom.
Using interactive activities that help students and parents connect around learning in positive ways.
Each workshop is designed to be interactive and engaging for both students and parents. Workshops may be offered to a targeted group of parents or made available to all parents and students at a school site or across a district.
Schools and districts may select from TutorWorks' workshop topics or collaborate with the TutorWorks team to shape a session around specific socio-emotional, language, or academic needs.
Decades of research have shown that higher levels of parent involvement are associated with stronger academic outcomes. Students are more likely to earn higher grades, attend school more regularly, stay in school longer, and pursue more challenging learning opportunities when schools, families, and communities work together.
At the same time, parental involvement can be harder to sustain in disadvantaged communities due to work schedules, life demands, language barriers, parents' educational experiences, and lack of information about how to support learning at home.
TutorWorks workshops are designed to help close that gap by providing families with practical tools, encouragement, and clear strategies for supporting student learning.
Motivating parents to support their children's learning in deeper ways is complex. TutorWorks believes one of the most effective ways to strengthen family involvement is to work in partnership with schools as an external advocate.
TutorWorks highlights the resources schools already provide, reinforces the importance of parent involvement, and helps families see how their support can contribute to student success.
We have been that external advocate for many schools - and we can be that advocate for your school community too.

“From the day we went for the first meeting until the end it was a great experience. My daughter is into reading more than ever now. Her teacher said she has improved a lot at the end of the school year. Now she is willing to tackle any school project before it is due.”
